You gotta be kidding me!

Hey 88 and a Half fans! It’s your girl Reese again. I must admit, I love sharing my views on shoes (Lol! That rhymed!) with you guys. But I got to admit; I’m going to need some more of you to speak up! I know I’m not the only one who has a love affair with shoes. So ladies, speak up and be heard! Leave a comment, share a story, even upload a picture of your favorite shoes. Let us hear from you. Now back to your regularly scheduled blog…
.. ..

Last week I shared my most embarrassing shoe story and it featured a cute, but too high pair of shoes. So this week, in honor of New York Fashion Week, I figured we’d chat about a new trend – super high heels.
.. ..

You’ve seen them before guys. Shoes with a heel so high, the wearer looks like she’s standing on her tiptoes. It seems like these shoes are getting more and more outrageous. In a sense, these shoes are created to be more than a shoe. They are considered to be an art form. But what a model wears on a runway doesn’t always transfer into everyday life. Could you see walking around at work all day in a pair of these?
..

Umm hmm…didn’t think so! And yes, the second pair is heelless! In my opinion, fashion is, in a sense, an art. But not all art is meant to be mainstream. Some looks belong on a runway because they just aren’t practical for everyday life. But that doesn’t mean some brave yet misguided soul won’t try anyway. (If you are that soul, girl, I’m just playin’!)
.. ..

So 88 and a Half fans, what do you think about this crazy shoe trend? Is it art or ridiculous? What you would do if you saw someone going about daily life wearing these shoes? Would you wear them yourself? Tell me all about it girl!
.. ..

XOXO,

Reese

Share Your Story

Okay, 88andahalf.com fans. It’s your girl Reese, resident blogger for the official 88andahalf.com blog "Will Work for Shoes." I’m back to talk about something many people try to forget…embarrassing shoes stories.
.. ..

Come on, we’ve all got them. You broke a heel on a crowded street, you realized your shoes didn’t match AFTER you got to work or your shoe just fell apart due to a weak strap. We’ve all had those moments.
.. ..

As a show of goodwill, I’ll let you guys in on my most embarrassing shoe story.
.. ..

Well, it happened a while ago but it’s still fresh in my mind every single time I think of it. I was out with my girls at this pretty hot lounge. We were all cute and for emphasis, I decided to wear these shoes that I had only worn a couple of times before. They were black stilettos…and platforms for added drama.
.. ..

While were having drinks and people-watching at this popular nightspot, I had to get up and visit the restroom. On my way back, I’m casually sashaying back to our table, rounding a corner table with a few guys and BAM!!! I hit the floor. Here’s the clincher, I didn’t just fall on my behind. I fell then slid a little…under their table! I was mortified!!
.. ..

Luckily a couple of guys helped me up and I made it back to my table and I heard no screaming laughter directed at me. Miraculously the lounge seemed to have cleared out prior to my fall. I learned two things that night: always watch out for food dropped on the floor (the culprit) and walking carefully trumps walking cute! Trust me, I learned my lesson. And those cute shoes have not left my closet since that terrible night!
.. ..

So 88 and a Half fans, tell me about your most embarrassing shoe story. It’s all love here, no judging. I’m sure we can all relate.
.. ..

XOXO,

Reese

Welcome to the inaugural post of the official 88andahalf.com blog, “Will Work for Shoes!” Thanks for following 88andahalf.com and your support is appreciated. On this blog I encourage you to share your experiences, stories and random thoughts all about shoes! How can you not love that?

Since this is our first post, allow me to introduce myself. I’m Reese…a woman who has always had a love affair with shoes. I believe a fabulous shoe can take your outfit and your confidence to the next level! So, join me and let’s get down to it!

So, we’re just coming off of a busy wedding season. It always seems as though the summer months are bursting with weddings and I’m noticing a trend in wedding fashion. Women are taking the opportunity to express themselves in a fun way on their wedding day by breaking from the traditional all-white attire and adding colorful shoes.

Do you remember the scene in the “Sex and the City” movie where Carrie finally marries Mr. Big in a fab white suit and those gorgeous royal blue Manolo Blahniks?! I’ve noticed a few brides in traditional white gowns with richly colored shoes, like reds and pinks. Myself, I love it! It’s like an added surprise that reflects a fearless personality. But some of my girls have told me it takes away from the elegance of the occasion.

So folks, I ask you, would you punch up your special day with a brightly-colored shoe? Do you think it’s odd or is too much a fashion risk? Traditional vs. self-expression? What do you think…tell me all about it.

XOXO,

Reese
